Jakarta, 24 November 2025 — The Faculty of Da’wah and Communication Science (FDIKOM) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta officially welcomed Dr. Mehnaz Gul, Chairperson and Associate Professor at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Peshawar, Pakistan. Dr. Gul will serve as a Research Fellow at Fdikom from 24 November to 5 December 2025.

The welcoming session took place at the Meeting Room, 2nd Floor of Fdikom, moderated by Suhendra, M.I.Kom. The event was attended by Dean Prof. Dr. Gun Gun Heryanto, M.Si, Vice Deans, the Head of Administrative Affairs, Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs, and the Quality Assurance Team (GJM).

In his remarks, Dean Gun Gun Heryanto stated that Dr. Gul’s fellowship contributes significantly to the internationalization agenda of the faculty.

“This fellowship is an important step in enhancing FDIKOM’s global academic recognition. We have prepared a series of programs across all departments to ensure that her presence benefits our academic community,” he noted.

During the introductory session, Dr. Mehnaz Gul presented “Feminism and Gender Issues in Pakistan”, highlighting women’s movements, gender equality, and sociocultural transformations in Pakistan. The presentation was followed by an active discussion with FDIKOM lecturers.

Academic Activities During the Fellowship

Throughout her ten-day program at FDIKOM, Dr. Mehnaz Gul will be involved in various academic activities, including:

• Academic discussions with lecturers
• Guest lectures for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students
• Research coaching and consultation
• Thematic discussions on Islamic philanthropy and social welfare
• International Public Lecture: “Current Issues on Mass Media in Pakistan: State Regulation and Market Regulation”
• Strategic meetings for exploring international collaborative research

These activities are expected to strengthen FDIKOM’s international partnerships and broaden academic engagement among faculty members and students.

Dr. Mehnaz Gul is an Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Peshawar. With more than twenty years of academic experience, she is actively involved in teaching, research, and academic leadership, and has presented her work at various international conferences.
